Brief Introduction to the
Troupe
江苏省苏州昆剧院前身为成立于1956年的江苏省苏昆剧团，2001年改团为院。50余年来，该院（团）相继培养了“继”、“承”、“弘”、“扬”四代昆剧演员百余人，剧目先后出访美国、比利时、意大利、日本、德国、法国、韩国等国，深受好评。
Jiangsu
Provincial Suzhou Kunqu Opera Theatre originates from Jiangsu
Provincial Su and Kun Opera Troupe which was established in 1956. It
changed from a troupe into a theatre in 2001. For more than 5
decades, it has brought up more than one hundred Kunqu professionals
who were mainly divided into the four generations of “Ji”, “Cheng”,
“Hong” and “Yang”. Their plays were performed in U.S., Belgium,
Italy, Japan, Germany, France, Korean etc., and had won good
reputation.

Synopsis
“情不知所起，一往而深。生者可以死，死可以生。生而不可与死，死而不可复生者，皆非情之至也。”——这就是《牡丹亭》：一部跨越生死的爱情传奇，一部浪漫绮丽的昆剧经典。
As
the preface to the opera says," For the unknown reason, people fall
in love with others so deeply that the health may die while the dead
may turn to live. Therefore, for the health who is afraid to die or
the dead who is unable to resurrect are people who don’t love
enough". “Peony Pavilion” is a classical piece of Kunqu Opera that
tells a romantic legend about love journeying through life and
death.
